Michael A Echevarria has been a blessing to me in my pursuit to shed unwanted pounds that I have been holding on to for over 10 years. I am 47 years old and I currently weigh 240 lbs. I have a goal and have had a goal for a while of getting under 200 lbs for the first time since 1999. I actually peaked at 280 lbs. I consider myself to have a working knowledge of fitness and how to lose weight but my whole life I have been one of those people who yo – yo with my weight. After peaking at 280 lbs – I started a job that had a lot of physical activity involved in it and I eventually lost a lot of weight and went to 213 lbs. The problem is months after that I put the weight back on and reached 250 lbs again. A Heartfelt Thank You to Michael Echevarria, Certified Fitness Trainer, From Fitness by Example….. My husband and I worked with a trainer a year prior to meeting Michael. I worked out faithfully 3X a week. My husband dropped lbs rapidly…In that year I only lost 10lbs and went down 1 size,discouraging huh? At that time to reach my goal I needed to lose a total of about 25lbs but after losing 10 lbs the scale would not budge. I had always believed in the importance of healthy eating and exercise, but for a period of about 10years, my work schedule was all consuming, did not make to work out, and lost sight of how out of shape I was becoming. In the late summer of 2010, I was so fortunate to meet Michael at a mutual networking group. I was very impressed with how dynamic and upbeat he was at every meeting, so with that said, I decided to give it a try again…we started to train in my home 3X a week, beginning September 2010. The difference in training with Michael was the time him spent coaching me with eating habits to jump start my metabolism as my estrogen levels are not what they used to be. Truthfully, I fought him the first couple months about small frequent meals and the different food combinations he wanted me to work with. Proper combinations of proteins, fast carbs vs. slow carbs, and the time of day you ingest them but I’m proof that it does matter!…Well it’s now March and I have surpassed my original goals and weigh 5lbs less than I did 12 years ago and am down 3 sizes from last year…It goes to show it’s not just in the working out but the time and caring a trainer takes with his clients. Without that component I’m sure I’d still be where I was prior to our meeting. His workouts are fast paced and fun (with the exception, my husband doesn’t like to train with music, so I miss that component) hint hint Michael! His training is core training, no machines, just working all your muscle groups with the use of hand weights and exercise balls. Before finding Michael I had already gone through 2 personal trainers, since relocating here to Orlando. I am a 67-year-old overweight woman with many health problems. When my doctor prescribed this 6-week physical fitness program I was very skeptical with someone working with me in an exercise program. When I met Mike that first day I was still very reluctant to be there, but by the end of the session I told myself maybe I could do this. Before I met Mike I had not done any exercising in 15 years. Mike sits and listens to you and makes up a program designed just for you. He is right there working with you and “cheering” you during class. Before training with Mike, I would swim most days and play golf regularly (although my knees were stopping me from playing more than once a week). I tried Curves, but I hated the music, and I felt like I was competing with the other women. Also, once they showed you how to use the equipment there was no real supervision. I’m a lot more mobile the main benefit is my knees. They still ache a little, but I don’t hobble around. Using Michael’s terms on a scale of 1 to 10, I was about an 8 on the pain scale. Now I’m about a 3 or 4. That’s a big improvement. It’s too hot for golf right now, but I’m confident that I’ll be able to play 3 or 4 times a week. Michael is very patient and astute. He gives me plenty of challenge, but is always watchful not to cause injury. He listens to what I say, I think he respects all his patients/clients and really wants them all to succeed. Is it fun? In Feb 2005 my life changed. I was put in your class for physical training. I agreed to go but I was not athletically inclined and felt you would say there was not much you could do for me- that didn’t happen and the rest is history.
