In part 1 of this series we discussed the seriousness of how stress not only underminds the body’s ability to lose unwanted body fat, but also to cause it to rapidly gain the nasty fat!   So once we can get the stress management under control we can move on to the exercise and diet portion of the program.

Now for these two physically oriented action parts to work we must realize that our mind plays an extremely crucial role here. The most important point I hope that you take home with you is that getting fit is a mind game. Yes it’s true that getting fit is physical, however your body is controlled by your thoughts. How you think and what you think will either make you or break you. From personal experience I know that getting fit and staying fit is at least 90% mental.

There are three mental factors that are essential in this program, now the first thing I am going to tell you is that you have to make a decision to do it! Make up your mind that no matter what, you will do what it takes to be fit and trim.

Second is discipline, oh no not discipline! Almost every time we hear the word discipline we think of it as a negative, whereas in reality it is a very good thing. Without discipline we cannot achieve anything worthwhile.

Finally number 3 is persistence, this is essential. At times we are going to fail, we will miss workouts, we will eat unhealthy food, and we’ll probably even pig out occasionally. However if we pick ourselves up and get right back into the fitness lifestyle and understand that this is for life, we cannot fail! That is persistence, the “never say quit” attitude.

I know that you understand that anything good in life is going to require work. I’m sorry there is no quick fix to lasting fitness, if you have read my articles on my web site, you will undoubtedly know that. However I bring good news to the table and that is there is a workable solution, a solution that is 100% guaranteed to work, if you apply all these principals and techniques I have shown you today.

Now before I go into the physical aspect of this program I want to address an important fact that you must understand or your fitness success will be short lived. Remember we live in a society where being fit is the minority! So you must realize that when you start your new fitness lifestyle you are going to be met with opposition! Maybe not at first, but undoubtedly it will happen. Co-workers, well meaning family members and friends are going to want you to either stop wasting your time exercising or want you to eat what their eating, basically they want you to go back to your old way of life.

Don’t listen to them! My advice is to share your goals and vision with others of “like mind”, those who have “been there and done that” and who can offer encouragement and constructive help. These people will be your support group. You can email me anytime with the form below with your questions, comments, or concerns and I would be glad to help you in any way I can.
